Digital Identity : A pathway to unlocking limitless potential for Bangladesh

Single Sign-On (SSO) serves as a digital identity and authentication framework, granting users the ability to effortlessly reach numerous applications or services using a sole set of credentials (such as a username and password) or alternative authentication methods (including biometric data or security tokens). By eliminating the need to recall and input distinct login details for each application, SSO empowers users to initiate a single authentication process, thereby enabling seamless access to a multitude of systems without the necessity for repetitive authentication procedures. 

In Bangladesh, the importance of Digital Identity and Single Sign-On (SSO) systems cannot be overstated. Digital Identity provides individuals, even those in remote areas, with a recognized and secure presence in the digital realm. It opens doors to financial services, healthcare, education, and government programs that were previously out of reach. Digital Identity creates a digital ecosystem, and Bangladesh can empower its citizens, enhance service delivery, and bridge socio-economic gaps, ultimately propelling their societies toward a more connected and equitable future. 

Although Bangladesh as a nation hasn’t taken any initiative to digitalize its citizens identity, it has come a long way over the past decade in terms of identifying its citizen by providing them with some prominent identification methods such as The National Identity Card (NID) which is issued to all citizens of Bangladesh. It serves as a comprehensive identification document containing biometric data such as fingerprints and photographs.
